Happy New Year!

Welcome back to school. What a great year 2010 is shaping up to be. Lots of exciting things are planned for the library throughout the year.

This term is all about Australian Authors & Illustrators as we prepare to nominate our favourite books for the Young Australian Best Book Awards (YABBA). Check out all the Australian books that are currently on display around the library. Look for the Australian flags to help you easily find our great range of  “home grown” books. Soon you will be able to go directly to your favourite Australian author’s website via this blog. Watch this space for more details.

Back by popular demand is the “Lucky Book Dip”. This term you will be able to lucky dip for a  picture story book. Begins in March.

Once again the library is open every Thursday from 1pm. Come in for some quiet reading or drawing or to play a board game. See you on Thursday.

Poetry Scavenger Hunt

Starts November 9th!!!

Come in and enter our poetry competition. See if you can find 10 of the 12 poems (displayed on coloured paper) that are hidden in the library and have a chance of winning a note book & a pen!!! Simply find the poems, write them on an entry form and put it in the entry box.

If you don’t have time to find the poems during your library session, come into the library on a Thursday lunchtime and enter then. The competition runs from the 9th November to the 26th November. The winner will be announced at assembly on the 30th November.

News Stand

The library now has a “News Stand” where a variety of magazines and the local newspapers will be displayed. These will not be available to borrow, however you can browse through them whilst in the library.

Please take good care of the magazines and newspapers so that everyone gets a chance to enjoy them. Remember to place them back in the stand when you have finished with them.

Library Book Lucky Dip

Are you game to “lucky dip” for your weekly library book?

If so, pick a brown paper bag from the boxes in the junior fiction section. The paper bags have a book  & some other goodies in them. Make sure you take the bag to the returns desk, so your teacher can borrow the book out into your name. The barcode number is on the back of the bag.

Can you wait until you get home to see what book you have got or will the suspense be too much?

Why not take the challenge today!!

The ‘Library Book Lucky Dip’ will run for the next 2 weeks. The books are all from the junior fiction section.

What’s Happening in the Library

It’s Book Week
Identify the animal’s that appear in the safari display in the library, and go into the draw for your chance to win a barrel  of animals.

There is also a Graffiti wall were you can
write your favorite book in what ever way
you want. Visit the library on a Thursday during lunchtime and make your mark on the “Graffiti Wall”

Anderson’s Creek Primary School Library

Welcome to Anderson’s Creek Primary School  Library Blog. This Blog is for parents, teachers and children to visit and to see what is happening in our fantastic library. This is also a great place to read about our new books and current competitions. Your comments about our library are always welcome.

Our well stocked library is a constant hive of activity and an inviting place to spend time. The library is open on a Thursday lunchtime from 1pm. Use this time to read your favourite book, play some board games,  do some drawing or to have a quiet chat.
